A cidade entrou para história por ter sido a primeira a abolir a escravatura no Brasil, em 1º de janeiro de 1883, quatro anos antes da assinatura da Lei Àurea pela Princesa Isabel.
Localizada na encosta do Maciço de Baturité, Redenção tem muito de história para contar, não somente no seu patrimônio arquitetônico, como pontes construídas na época do Império, como também oferece ainda, nas antigas fazendas, completamente preservadas, senzalas que hoje funcionam como museus, onde se pode viver como viviam os negros e pode se observar as correntes e outros instrumentos que eram utilizados para a sua punição.
Sem dúvida, um pedaço de nossa história que continua vivo nesses locais preservados.
Como parte desse passeio pela história do país, é preciso visitar o Museu Memorial da Liberdade, e as fazendas Gurguri, o Sítio Guassi e o Sítio Livramento, que mantém em sua originalidade, a casa de engenho e a senzala. O monumento Negra Nua se encontra na entrada da cidade, representando uma negra quebrando as correntes. É um marco comemorativo da abolição. Entre os atrativos naturais encontram-se, o Açude Acarape do meio e o balneário de Lages, isso sem contar com as diversas cachoeiras como a de Paracupeba.

REDENÇÃO

The city is famous in our history for to be the first one to abolish the slavery in Brazil, in 1st of january 1883,four years before the signature of the golden law for the princess Isabel.situadet in the hillside of the Maciço of Baturité,Redenção has much of history to tell, not only patrimony architectural, as bridges construted at the time of the Empire,but still keep, in old farms, completely preserved, senseless that function actually as museums,where you can live as the blacks lived and can see the chairs and other instruments used to punish them.It is without a boubt, a piece of our history still alive in these preserved places.
As part of a stroll for the history of country,it is necessary to visit the freedom Museum and the Gurguri farms, the Guassi small farm and the Livramento small farm which still keeps in origil the hours of device and senseless .
The Negra Nua monument is situated in the entrance of the city,representing a black woman breaking her chains.
This is a commemorative landmark to the abolition.between natural attraction we detach, the Acarape do meio Dan and the Balneario de lages,and also many waterfalls,the paracupeba.
